The Weekly ‘Mix: Every Wednesday, the Clark spotlights one of the visitor-curated galleries from Clark Remix. uCurate is an exciting program that allows anyone to design their own gallery show; starting this fall, the Clark will bring selected virtual shows to life in one of the building’s gallery spaces.
This week’s uCurate show, titled What r u looking @? juxtaposes a variety of styles of sculpture and painting with a dynamic color scheme. We love the combination of Louis-Leopold Boilly and Francois-Joseph Navez’s realistic paintings with Degas’ bronze ballerinas!

This week’s exhibition, titled Devoid of Colour? presents paintings and sculptures from around the world in rich neutral shades. In the guest curator’s words:

“Some of the monochrome surfaces contradict the rich colours one may expect. In fact, many of the works seem devoid of colour. Yet, in between the shades of grey spots of red emerge, tones of ocher (sic) make up the background and (ever so quietly) tones of yellow, green, and brown surface…”

With artwork by Edgar Degas, Louis-Leopold Boilly, Augustin Pajou, and Ammi Phillips, Devoid of Colour? is a many-layered exhibition.
