The Sterling and Francine Clark Art Institute
Francois Boucher, an archetypical painter of Rococo themes and a friend and protégé of Madame de Pompadour, created several works based on the theme of Venus at Vulcan’s forge during his career. This oil sketch is on view at Stone Hill Center as part of Sacred and Profane: Four Hundred Years of Religious and Mythological Paintings.
